The words may look the same, but Support is not the same as support.
Everyone claims to provide good support. It’s the pay to play, the ante. Very few provide Support (the one with the capital S).
This Support is about Business Support.
It’s not my-thing-is-broken support, although that is part of it. If that is all you are getting from any one of your teams or vendors, take a second to pause. You need to read this slowly. Make notes.
Support is so essential that nearly every team should have this as a box around their entire flow chart.
Support is thinking ahead of what you will need and solving problems before they exist. It’s doing the work to understand the market and industry to give you small, but compounding advantages. It’s having conversations, following trends, calling a spade a spade.
Support is helping you make tradeoffs. It’s about giving you information that you can act on and not bogging you down with information that does not matter. It is bringing you problems and solutions.
Support should be pulling you forward while keeping your legs underneath you. It is an AND, not an OR. It’s speed AND value.
Support is protecting your interest, and the interest of your family. It’s about trust. It’s being a steward and a sounding board.
You know what else it’s not, it’s not making you call some call center across the world to get the run-around. It’s direct access to people who can help.
Most of all, Support is a creator. It creates loyalty from your team. It creates repeat business. It creates results from your vision. Support creates wins.
Let’s win.
